303_LINE Clones
TB-303 clones and alternatives
If you want the sound without paying for an original, these are the standing options.
The standing options
Original units sell for far more than most people want to spend, when they surface at all. These are the usual alternatives.
Behringer TD-3
Budget analog hardware clone with MIDI and USB. Often the easiest way into the sound. See the TB-303 vs TD-3 comparison.
Roland TB-03 (Boutique)
Roland's own digital modeling reissue. Tiny, battery-powered, built-in sequencer, official pedigree.
Acidlab Miami
Analog clone aimed at 303 purists: no modern extras, just the circuit.
Software 303s
Plugin emulations, such as Roland's own TB-303 Software Bass Line (through Roland Cloud), the free open-source JC-303, and Xhun Audio's Zerobox. Not identical to the hardware, but instant to use. Availability and pricing change, so check each vendor.
Quick comparison
| Option | Type | Good for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original TB-303 | Analog, 1981 | The real thing, collecting | Very expensive, aging parts |

| Roland TB-03 | Digital modeling | Portable, official | Digital, not analog |
| Acidlab Miami | Analog clone | Purists wanting the circuit | Fewer extras, limited availability |
| Software plugins | Software | Fast, cheap, easy to record | No hands-on knobs unless you add a controller |
